David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelery

His name is Doug Meadows, a third generation jeweler. His grandfather started the business in 1926 as one of the first tenants in the Michigan Theater Building. Doug learned the trade from his father and uncle and is now teaching and training the 4th generation, his son Joseph. Doug moved to Atlanta in 1983 and in 1985 his brother David joined him and they took their first names, David and Douglas, put them together and started David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelry. www.daviddouglas.com . Fast-forwarding 38 years Doug has proven to be a very successful retail jeweler and has been very involved in his community. A big advocate for local schools and a partner in education for 2 of their local high schools. Sponsoring several events, Dazzling Diamonds for Mom to commemorate his mom that he lost to cancer 33 years ago. He has the children write and tell him why their mom deserves a diamond. This year was there 20th year and with over 7,800 entries they give away 6 diamonds and over 400 gemstones to the best of class winners. They also have been donating & making commemorative flip coins (3 – 1-ounce sterling silver coins) for the football teams of 2 of the local high schools. Then they have a design contest for the kids to design the homecoming queen’s diamond pendant that they create and present at homecoming night. Highly respected in the community and the jewelry industry and just an all-around passionate guy.
